Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont
began Oct. 1, 2009, as a result of the merger of Tarheel Triad Council and three
other councils in western and central North Carolina. Today, Magnolia Manor is
the home of the Colfax Service Center and Business Center for GSCP2P.
The service center serves 13 counties in
Piedmont North Carolina, including more than 12,000 girls and 6,000 adults.
Girl Scouts is an organization
developed especially for girls in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah,
Georgia. Girl Scouting helps girls
develop their full potential so that they become happy and resourceful young
women.
The Girl
Scouts is the world's preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls. Here,
in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for
success in the real world. In partnership with committed adults, girls
develop qualities that will serve them all their lives -- like strong values,
social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.
In the
Girl Scouts, they discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together; and
through the many enriching experiences provided by the Girl Scouts, they grow
courageous and strong.
