Water Badge Bonanza Planned
for Juniors, Bridging Brownies
Troop 1215 is presenting a Water Badge
Bonanza for Juniors and bridging Brownies Girl Scouts on Saturday, May
31, at Douglas Long. In one, three-hour session, the girls will earn the
Swimming and Small Craft badges. It costs $20 and includes facilitators,
snacks and even the badges! The afternoon session is full, but there is
still room in the morning session (9-12). To register, contact Martha

European Tour Will Highlight Pax Lodge, Our Chalet
Join sister Girl Scouts for “A Girl
Scout Journey” tour of London, with a visit to Pax Lodge, as well as
trips to Paris and to Lucerne, Switzerland, including a visit to Our
Chalet. The group will be guided by a bilingual tour guide from EF
Educational Tours. Travel will begin between June 15 and June 21, 2009
(exact departure date depends on the size of our group), and the trip
will last for 10 days. The trip is being organized by Beth Smith, a Girl
Scout leader from Lexington.
Cost is $2,930 for girls and $3,245
for adults (adults are two to a room). The price includes round-trip
airfare from Charlotte, eight overnight stays in hotels with private
bathrooms, and European breakfast and dinner daily. International travel
is for girls age 14 and older.

Older Girls May Apply for
Leadership Institute
Oct. 29-30, 2008
The 2008 Girl Scout Leadership
Institute – Live Healthy, Lead Healthy – will be held in Indianapolis,
Indiana, before the start of the Girl Scout National Convention.
Twenty-five girls from central Indiana are leading the planning process
for this exciting Leadership Institute event for girls in grades 6-12.
Teams of Girl Scouts will gather to
discuss health, enjoy physical fitness activities, attend a concert,
identify health-related areas of interest, and take action to improve
community health. Most importantly, girls will learn about life-long
habits to sustain healthy lifestyles as vibrant community leaders.
More than 2,000 girls will participate
in this unique leadership opportunity. The GSLI is open to teams of
registered Girl Scouts who will be in grades 6-12 in October 2008. An
ideal team is eight to 10 girls and two adults and consists of girls
from more than one troop. Councils may send more than one team.
Registration ends July 31 or when capacity has been reached.
Participants, whether girl or adult, pay a registration fee of $125,
which includes all materials, dinner on Oct. 29 and lunch on Oct. 30.
Transportation, lodging, and other meals are not included. Participants
register through the Tarheel Triad Council.
