Main Menu Day Camp Programs

Program Aide & Junior Assistant Leadership Programs
All day camps offer an opportunity for a limited number of registered Girl Scouts who meet the prerequisite requirements to participate in Program Aide and Junior Assistant Leadership programs. Program Aides learn camp skills and leadership skills in their own unit. They apply this knowledge at camp with the younger groups as they work toward the Program Aide recognition. Junior Assistant Leaders will be assigned to the younger girls’ units to earn leadership hours as they work with those girls.

Lifeguard Training Program at Seven Springs
Session 1: June 16-20 and
Session 2: June 23-27 at Camp Seven Springs

Girls who are interested in waterfront leadership have the opportunity to train as lifeguards during these two sessions at Camp Seven Springs. Girls will receive Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR and First Aid training as well as swimming, canoeing and kayaking instruction. Girls in the Lifeguard Training Program MUST be 15-years-old on or before June 27, strong swimmers (capable of swimming 500 yards, using a variety of strokes, without stopping,) able to tread water at least two minutes, swim underwater a minimum of 15 feet and dive to a depth of 12 feet.
Fee: $100 each session. Girls attend both sessions.

Program Aide Prerequisites
Camp Program Aides must have completed at least seventh grade, be a registered Girl Scout, complete council-sponsored Program Aide training (see next section.) Girls must register for the day camp of their choice and pay the required fee for that camp. Space for Program Aides at each camp is limited. Girls who qualify for this program will be accepted as Program Aides on a “first come, first served” basis for the camp where they register.

Program Aide Training
Council-sponsored Program Aide training will be offered this spring on Saturday, April 5, OR Saturday, May 17, from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at The Learning Center in Colfax.
Fee: $7 (includes recognition pin, certificate, and program materials.)
Note: Girls MUST register prior to the training to attend. Registration applications are available by contacting Sharon Wisell at (336) 369-7426 or swisell@tarheeltriad.org.
